11th HR National Magna Meet, 2019 Kicked Off In Kathmandu

The 11th Human Rights National Magna Meet, 2019 kicked off in Kathmandu on 8th December marking the 71st International Human Rights Day 2019. The meet was organized in the coordination of the NGO Federation of Nepal (NFN), whereas the main co-coordinating organization were National Youth Federation Nepal (NYFN) and Grassroots Development Foundation (GDF). The event was organized in the collaboration of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and other development partners and civil society organizations. 
Mr. Jitram Lama, president of NFN chaired the ceremony. The Minister of the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizen Honorable Parbat Gurung joined the Magna Meet as a chief guest. Honorable Anup Raj Sharma, chairperson of NHRC was the special guest at the event.

The main attraction of the Meet was the Human Rights National Awards. The dedicated human rights activists were awarded with the different human rights award. Pro. Dr. Mathura Prasad Shrestha was awarded the ‘Padma Ratna Tuladhar National Human Rights and Peace Award’, Dr. Gauri Shankar Lal Das was awarded with the ‘National Human Rights Award’ and Mrs. Ganga Kasaju awarded with the ‘Shanta Laxmi Shrestha Woman-Human Rights Award’.

The Meet was conducted in the presence of around 300+ human rights activists, government bodies, representatives from civil society organizations and development partners. 
The slogan of this year’s HR National Magna Meet was “Youths Standing Up for Human Rights.”
